Grain Millers recalls rolled oats because of potential plastic contamination

Grain Millers Inc., of Eden Prairie, MN, is recalling 20 totes of 1,800 lb. Regular Rolled Oats #5 and 17 totes of 1,600 lb. Quick Rolled Oats #21 because of potential contamination with foreign material, specifically plastic. 

The recall was initiated on Feb. 11, 2025, and remains ongoing, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The affected products were distributed to California and Indiana.

Businesses are urged not to use, sell or distribute the recalled oats and should check their inventories for the affected code information. The recalled products should be discarded or returned to the supplier.

About foreign object concerns
The presence of plastic in food products poses risks such as choking, oral injury, or gastrointestinal discomfort if ingested. Although this recall has not yet been classified, consumers or businesses experiencing any adverse effects after handling or consuming the product should seek medical attention promptly.
